PBSO: Boca-area woman stalked man, kicked deputy

A suburban Boca Raton woman is facing charges following her arrest Saturday for allegedly stalking a man at his home and kicking a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy.

Jeanne Schlegel Smith, 57, is facing charges of violating an injunction and resisting a law-enforcement officer without violence. While being taken taken into custody, Smith allegedly pushed a deputy and spontaneously uttered, “The judge is an actor.”

She was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on Monday after posting $5,000 bail.

Her arrest came after deputies responded Thursday to an undisclosed address west of the city to investigate the stalking allegation. A man who obtained a court injunction against Smith in April told deputies she showed up at his home and rang his front doorbell.

The doorbell is equipped with an audio and video recording device. The man used his tablet to show deputies a recording of Smith speaking to him through the doorbell system.

The arrest report does not specify Smith’s relationship to the man.

Deputies found Smith at her home two days later and took her into custody. While being placed in a patrol vehicle, she allegedly kicked a deputy in the shins, then slipped out of one of her handcuffs. She allegedly resisted as deputies tried to remove her from the car to put the handcuffs on her again.
