NEW: West Palm-area mom accused of dealing drugs in front of children

A suburban West Palm Beach woman appeared in court Friday morning to face allegations that she and her husband dealt drugs in the home west of the city where they live with their four children.

Jessica Santiago, 33, was arrested Thursday on charges of drug possession and unlawfully manufacturing drugs with children present.

Her husband, Edwin Santiago, was arrested March 9 after Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office investigators conducted a search of the couple’s home.

He faces drug and child neglect charges and was released from the jail March 11 after posting $28,000 bail.

Authorities say packages of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and weapons were found hidden in the couple’s Walnut Street home, south of Summit Boulevard and north of Forest Hill Boulevard.

Jessica reportedly told investigators she and her husband smoke marijuana in the backyard every day and she uses it to medicate herself in the face of an unspecified type of pain.

Neither parent’s police reports indicate whether the children were removed from the home. They range in age from 16 to 9.
