NEW: Man, 22, accused of string of Port St. Lucie car burglaries

A 22-year-old man was arrested early Monday on seven counts of burglary to an unoccupied vehicle after several people in the 1100 block of Southeast Palm Beach Drive reported their cars being broken into last week.

See who’s been booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.

Police arrested Sonny Meade in the 1600 block of Southeast Fallon Drive near Crosstown Parkway and Southwest Airoso Boulevard. According to Master Sgt. Frank Sabol, Port St. Lucie police spokesman, Meade was suspected to be staying in the area.

Officers set up a perimeter around a house at 2:30 a.m. When police arrived, Meade tried to escape out of the back of the home, but was apprehended by a police K9 and booked into the St. Lucie County Jail.

Police had said after the break-ins that they were looking for a ‘tall, skinny’ man in connection with the burglaries.
