NEW: Florida man accused of providing false information after shooting

A 25-year-old Port St. Lucie man was arrested Monday after police alleged that he gave false information regarding a shooting that occurred over the weekend.

Detectives arrested Randolph Tribble on charges of obstruction and violation of probation. He may face more charges, police said.

Police say Tribble was handling a gun that went off early Saturday and struck another man in the shoulder. The shooting victim’s injury was not life-threatening, police said.

According to police, Tribble and three other men in their 20s were hanging out early Saturday at Tribble’s home on Southwest Comfort Street. One of the men went into the kitchen while Tribble and others went to the back patio. Tribble brought a gun to patio and was handling the weapon when it went off, police said. A bullet went through a glass door, into the kitchen and struck a 23-year-old man in the shoulder.

Police began investigating when the man showed up at Tradition Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Investigators were initially told that the shooting victim was shot outside a gas station on Gatlin Boulevard after he had left a hookah bar on Bayshore Boulevard.

However, police found no evidence of a shooting at that location.

Upon interviewing additional witnesses, officers learned that the shooting had actually occurred at Tribble’s home, a report said.

Investigators obtained a warrant to search the home and found that the rear-glass door had been shattered by a bullet, according to the report. The bullet that struck the victim was lodged into a kitchen cabinet, police said.
