NEW: Florida bouncer arrested after knocking out unruly bar patron 


A Florida Keys bouncer was arrested after knocking out an unruly bar patron, who later had to be airlifted to the hospital.

Brett Lamar Howard, Jr., was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami with a brain bleed on Feb. 4, according to Florida Keys News

Nathan Daniel Rogers, the 31-year-old head of security at Rick’s Bar on Duval Street, was escorting Howard and another man off the property when Howard allegedly punched Rogers in the face, Florida Keys News reported. 

According to Florida Keys News, Rogers then punched Howard in the face and he fell to the ground. Howard hit his head on the pavement and was unresponsive when paramedics arrived on the scene.

Witnesses said there was blood coming from Howard’s ear, the Florida Keys News reported. 

“Rogers described the incident as an instinctive reaction after being punched,” Key West Police Detective Darnell Sealey told Florida Keys News. 

Rogers was arrested for felony battery.
