LATEST: Woman recorded man performing lewd act near school, PBSO says


A woman recorded a 55-year-old man touching himself last week while he sat in the bushes near a school outside the city limits, Palm Beach County sheriff’s authorities said.

Lawrence Dunn, a homeless man who is known to spend time in southern Palm Beach and Broward counties, was arrested Wednesday on trespassing and indecent exposure charges. Judge Dina Keever-Agrama ordered he undergo a mental-health evaluation.

Two people who live near a school in unincorporated Boca Raton — the address is redacted from sheriff’s records — said they saw Dunn at about 7:30 a.m. May 11 in their backyard just feet from the school touching himself. He was carrying a bucket and a toilet seat, the residents told authorities.

One of the residents recorded the incident on her cellphone while the other resident called police.

Sheriff’s authorities said Dunn was watching children while he performed the sexual act. However no child reported seeing Dunn and the man denied watching children while he touched himself.

The sheriff’s office called the incident near the school the “most recent” occurrence. It was not immediately known whether Dunn is accused in any other incidents.
