LATEST: Three kids reported targets of Juno man’s physical abuse

Three young children were the reported targets of a man’s physical abuse, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office investigation determined Tuesday.

A deputy met with the children, aged 8, 6 and 4, and noted that at least two had visible bruises and cuts on their faces. The children first passed off the marks as the results of falling down the stairs and diving into a pool, sheriff’s office records state.

But one child later told a Florida Department of Children and Families investigator that Thomas Mavracic, 20, frequently hit the child in the face. The child wasn’t sure why Mavracic did that, but told the investigator how much it hurt and how the child wished he’d stop.

Records show that Mavracic, whose relation to the children is redacted in an arrest report, lives in Juno Beach. It is unclear where the alleged abuse occurred.

Mavracic faces a child abuse charge. He was released Tuesday evening from the Palm Beach County Jail on a $3,000 surety bond. A judge ordered Mavracic not to consume either alcohol or illegal drugs.
