LATEST: Roy Moore accuser filed report of threats with Delray police

A Delray Beach woman who said she dated U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore when she was 17 and he was 34 filed a report with Delray Beach police in November saying she was being harassed and threatened on social media.

The police report was filed on Nov. 11 by Deborah Wesson Gibson, days after she told The Washington Post that Moore — the Republican nominee in Alabama for a U.S. Senate seat – dated her for two or three months after Moore spoke to her high school civics class in 1981.

Gibson went to the Delray Beach Police Department and said she was receiving messages on Facebook and Twitter threatening to “get her” and saying that Gibson, 54, was going to “get hers,” according to an incident report provided late Wednesday to The Post.

Gibson could not be reached at her home or business either Wednesday or Thursday.

Gibson told police the “nastiest” commenters had the screen names of “Dan Vega” and “Abril America.” The report states that a search “revealed numerous users with those names.”

The incident report does not mention Moore and states that Gibson said the harassment “stems from her public life as a Hillary Clinton support …. ”

Records show that Gibson is a registered Republican. Gibson did work on Clinton’s presidential campaign through her company – Delray-based Signs of Excellence – which provides sign-language interpretation.

The harassment directed at Gibson was all in the form of social media, and no one has threatened her in person, according to the report.

Gibson requested that police provide extra patrols around her home in the north end of the city.

Moore has been accused by several woman who say he sexually assaulted them when they were teenagers. One alleged victim was 14. The election in Alabama is Tuesday.
