LATEST: Florida man, 60, chained himself to crane for political reasons 


A 60-year-old man who climbed a crane in Miami for political reasons was convinced to come down after a brief standoff.

Diego Manuel Tintorero climbed a crane at a construction site in Miami on Friday and tied an American flag to the structure, according to WPLG. He then chained himself to the crane. 

City of Miami police and fire rescue were able to convince him to come down after about 45 minutes.

Tintorero told authorities that he had climbed the crane for political reasons.

He was arrested and charged with trespassing.
