JUST IN: Florida man charged with hit-and-run that killed Maine man


A Port St. Lucie man is accused of hitting a man with his pickup truck and killing him, then leaving the scene.

The suspect, Wislet Andre, 48, is being held in the St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

The incident happened on June 2 when Andre was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound on U.S. Highway 1 in Fort Pierce when he allegedly struck Timothy Sandblom, 59, who was crossing the highway on foot while returning to a Red Roof Inn where he was staying, according to Fort Pierce police.

Sandblom had a driver’s license from Maine in his possession, Fort Pierce police said.

Vehicle debris found at the scene “exactly matched front end damage” on Andre’s vehicle, police said.

Andre was arrested Wednesday at his home. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
