BREAKING: Deadly intersection near West Palm notches another fatality in DUI-related crash

Long known as one — if not the — most dangerous intersection in Palm Beach County, Okeechobee Boulevard and Military Trail was the scene of another fatality in the early morning hours of Saturday.

Casey R. Shoemaker, 26, died around 1 a.m. when he made an illegal left turn in his Toyota from the northbound lane of Military onto Okeechobee, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Robyn Clark, driving a Nissan SUV westbound on Okeechobee, struck Shoemaker’s vehicle with the front of her car.

Shoemaker, who had drugs and alcohol in his system, died on the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, the sheriff’s report states. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The report does not mention any injuries to Clark, who was wearing a seatbelt.

In 2015, the Palm Beach Post reported on the most dangerous intersections in the county and found Military and Okeechobee had the most crashes the previous year: 141.
