A man trying to get through security Monday at Palm Beach International Airport was arrested after a loaded handgun was found in his carry-on luggage, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested Christopher Himschoot, 55, of Lehigh Acres after a TSA agent operating an X-ray machine reported that there was a gun in Himschoot’s bag.
Himshchoot faces one count of unlawfully carrying a concealed firearm. He was released on his own recognizance Monday from the Palm Beach County Jail.
According to the arrest report, a deputy checked Himschoot’s bag and found a Keltec P-32 handgun that was loaded with one bullet.
Before the deputy retrieved the luggage, Himschoot confirmed the luggage was his and told the deputy where in the bag the gun could be found, the report said.
The report does not indicate whether Himschoot offered an explanation as to why the gun was in his luggage. It also did not say either the airline on which he planned to fly or his travel destination.
