A Texas call center operator run by a Palm Beach Gardens entrepreneur plans to hire 200 workers here over the next three years, the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County said Thursday.
Etech Global Services has leased 10,000 square feet at 155 E. Blue Heron Blvd. Average annual pay for the positions will be just under $40,000 a year, the Business Development Board said.
The company won’t receive cash incentives for creating jobs, but it can apply for Enterprise Zone tax credits.
For Etech, which handles calls for large companies, Palm Beach County represents a high-wage market. Most of its eight call centers are in locations such as Nacogdoches, Texas; Lufkin, Texas; Huntington, W.V.; India and Jamaica.
An Indian newspaper reported last year that Etech workers there make $240 to $320 a month. Etech’s website says the company is hiring in Dallas, where wages are well above the national average.
Etech officials couldn’t be reached for comment. The company was founded by Dilip Barot, a Palm Beach Gardens real estate developer.
The company is tight-lipped about the identity of its customers, but it lists among its clients an unnamed large bank, an unnamed telecommunications company and the private firm that handles specialty license plates in Texas.
In at least one case, Etech was handling Hispanic marketing, and the employees devoted to that project were bilingual. In Texas, the company is hiring agents licensed to sell health and life insurance. Pay for those positions is $12 an hour, plus commissions, the company says on its website.
Etech’s move to Florida is just the latest sign that the company has been on an expansion spree. It bought a call center company in West Virginia in May.
