People who are receiving electricity from Florida Power & Light Co. but are not paying for it can now be caught more quickly and easily, thanks to a smart meter tool the company is rolling out.
Moray Dewhurst, vice chairman and chief financial officer NextEra Energy Inc., FPL’s parent company, said Wednesday at an investor conference in New York that the number of new customer accounts added each month has been running 30,000 to 35,000, but in the last couple of months, jumped up. A chart he used showed that in July the company added 44,000 new customers and in August, 51,000.
