In the decade since the Scripps Research Institute announced plans to open a lab here, biotech boosters have stressed the need for affordable incubator space for start-up companies. They might finally get their wish.
The Research Park at Florida Atlantic University is scouting sites in Jupiter in hopes of building a biotech incubator for companies that emerge from the county’s two nonprofit biotech labs, said Chief Executive Andrew Duffell. A completed building is perhaps three years away, and details about the location and size of the labs remain uncertain, but Duffell envisions perhaps 10,000 square feet of biotech incubator space.
