In a reminder of the steep cost of Digital Domain Media Group’s failure, the city that was the company’s biggest benefactor is considering unloading the company’s publicly funded headquarters at a hefty loss.
The Port St. Lucie City Council on Monday is scheduled to weigh a $14 million offer for the 115,000-square-foot building along Interstate 95. The city issued bonds totaling $39.9 million to build and furnish Digital Domain’s headquarters on a 15-acre parcel, but an appraisal commissioned by the city places the property’s value at $13.5 million.
