While free checking accounts have become rare at banks, they remain common at credit unions, according to a new study by Bankrate.com.
Its survey of the nation’s 50 largest credit unions finds that 72 percent offer free checking accounts with no strings attached. Only 39 percent of banks that offer free checking.
