State-run insurer Citizens on Thursday approved a contract up to $45 million for a new clearinghouse to steer customers to private competitors, and executives predicted a big year ahead for other programs to shrink Florida’s insurer of last resort.
Citizens president Barry Gilway said he sees a potential “record-breaking” year coming for efforts to send customers to private carriers, with perhaps 350,000 of its 1.2 million customers departing in “depopulation” programs.
