It took the $25 billion National Mortgage Settlement to push banks to modify loans in bulk, but lenders continue to fall short on customer service, according to a monitor who announced added accountability measures Wednesday.
Complaints of repeatedly lost documents, unresponsive employees, incorrect mortgage statements and foreclosures proceeding when they shouldn’t, have persisted in the year following the landmark agreement.
