State-run property insurer Citizens exercised “insufficient controls” over such travel expenses as hotel costs averaging $633 a night in Bermuda in meetings with reinsurers last year, a report released Friday said.
“The chief financial officer upgraded her $459 per night deluxe room to ‘gold’ status at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel, bringing the cost to $633 per night with taxes and fees for a three-day stay in Bermuda in April 2012,” the report by Chief Inspector General Melinda Miguel in the executive office of the governor said.
