BREAKING: Woman diving off coast of Jupiter dies

A woman diving off the coast of Jupiter died Saturday morning, authorities said.

The woman, believed to be in her mid 60s, was out at about 9:45 a.m. with a crew from the Jupiter Dive Center when she began to experience an unspecified complication, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Eric Davis said.

The dive crew sent out a distress call to the Coast Guard. A sheriff’s office marine unit heard the call and responded, along with the operator of a private vessel, Davis said.

A civilian boat the the woman to a nearby dock where she received medical attention from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Authorities did not disclose her identity.

The cause of death will be investigated by the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office.
