NEW: Coast Guard, good Samaritan rescue 5 from water off Boynton Beach

The U.S. Coast Guard and a good Samaritan helped rescue five people four miles off the coast of Boynton Beach on Saturday morning.

At about 9:30 a.m., officials responded to a report of a 31-foot boat filling rapidly with water with five people aboard, according to U.S. Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard launched a helicopter crew and a 45-foot response boat crew to the scene.

A good Samaritan, sailing on a vessel called the Palm Breeze, arrived at the scene to find the vessel in distress was submerged. The Samaritan retrieved the five people from the water and then handed over the group to the Lake Worth Inlet boat crew, who took them back to the boating station.
