Rod Stewart spending holiday ‘right down the road from Donald Trump’

When you’re out and about on your pre-turkey errands this week, keep an eye out for Rod Stewart, who tipped off his Twitter followers as to his Palm Beach whereabouts.

Tweeting a video apology to friends Roger Daltrey and Alistair Morrison, he wrote “While I’m on holiday and couldn’t be with Roger Daltrey & Alistair Morrison at the Adoration Trilogy unveiling tonight, I was sure to make a splash.”

In the video shot poolside, the sunny yellow hue of the house is instantly recognizable as that of his Palm Beach digs.

In case there’s any doubt, he announces that he’s “on holiday, right down the road from Donald Trump.”

Then there’s a bit more chatter and an expletive or two as wife Penny suddenly pushed him into the pool.

At least, we think it’s Penny. But it may be a daughter. In any case, we’re pretty sure it’s somebody who can’t be fired.

Old paint — So, that Leonardo da Vinci piece which went for $450 million at Christie’s may well have been hanging on the wall of Maison de L’Amitie at 515 N. County Road for a few years. OK, maybe not, but the six years it took to authenticate the artwork nestles nicely into the home’s buy-and-sell timeline.

The auction house records all of its sales, so if you want to see what it takes to get a rattle out of those scholarly art types, watch the video of the nearly 20 minutes of bidding that turned the art world on it head. And, really, how unflappable is that auctioneer, who hammered down the sale like it was just another deal, while the rest of the folks are falling off their chairs?

Lineage — Speaking of records and art, James Borynack of the Wally Findlay Galleries can claim a few through his 5-year-old grandson Junius Hosmer James Clark (named for Junius Spencer Morgan, JP2’s son) and infant granddaughter Anne Morgan Kellogg Clark (named after Anne Morgan, JP2’s daughter who was philanthropist and wartime humanitarian.) Both children were born at New York-Presbyterian-Weill-Cornell Hospital, which was The Society of the Lying-In Hospital, built and donated in 1902 by their ancestor, JP Morgan and later moved to the current location at 68th and York by the younger JP and his friends, George Baker Sr. and Jr.

Junie, as the boy is called, was born the night of Hurricane Sandy hit New York. Anne was born the night Hurricane Harvey hit Houston.

And, as Jimmy noted in his usual wry way “All this and a dollar buys one Twizzler.”

Or one 450-millionth of the aforementioned record breaker.
