This local spot made Thrillist’s ‘Most Beautiful Places in Florida’ list

Remember that list of the top Instagram-worthy places in Boca and Delray?

We were obviously on to something because when Thrillist released its list of Most Beautiful Places in Florida, one of most picture-perfect South County spots made it. And that spot is the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach

Thrillist collaborated with Craig Pittman, author of “Oh, Florida: How America’s Weirdest State Influences the Rest of the Country” to curate the list. But locals won’t be surprised. How could they be? The Morikami is, after all, 16 acres of undisturbed beauty.

If you’ve never been, imagine a breathtaking landscape that you can step into for a calm and refreshing getaway. Circulating water provides the soundtrack to your respite while stones (some rare) dot your path. Bridges allow you to take in the beauty and lanterns and charming plants pop up throughout your walk.

Yamato Colony, 20th Century settlers, who were Japanese farmers in Boca Raton, made the gardens what they are. Eventually, most of the colony returned to Japan, but George Morikami stayed and left the land to Palm Beach County. It was then turned into the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens that you know today.
