View our paradise: Best restaurants for outdoor dining in Jupiter

Even if it’s brutally hot outside, a table with a good view will lift you from the swelter.

Your view drops you in the middle of a certain paradise. That’s the essence of al fresco dining, the sense of place.

Here are some of the best restaurants with outdoor seating in Jupiter from which to view our paradise:

Jetty’s

A mainstay at the Jupiter inlet, the sprawling wooden deck at Jetty’s delivers a stunning view of the Jupiter Lighthouse and the boats that glide in its periphery.

Thanks to the waterway, there’s usually some kind of breeze to cool off al fresco diners in summer.

Jetty’s Waterfront Restaurant: 1075 N. Highway A1A, Jupiter; 561-743-8166

Guanabanas

Guanabanas has a tropical, gorgeously overgrown feeling that makes it unlike any other local al fresco restaurant or bar.

Palm trees sweep toward the waterway, a lagoon that sits off the south bank of the Loxahatchee River. Dining tables are tucked between the thickly set bursts of lush foliage, and offer a perch for watching kayakers and paddle-boarders glide by. For the less aquatic types, there’s plenty on the menu to keep you busy. Settle back and dig into the blackened fresh-catch sandwich between sips of a vodka-spiked A1A Lemonade, and go “ahhh.”

Guanabanas: 960 N. Hwy A1A, Jupiter; 561-747-8878

Tommy Bahama

There’s a resort-y feel to this upscale chain restaurant. And, thanks to its location, that vibe comes with a view. Tommy Bahama is perched by the waterway at Jupiter’s Harbourside Place. The outdoor terrace is ideal for sipping a cocktail and watching the plaza’s action unfold.

Tommy Bahama: 126 Soundings Ave., Jupiter; 561-406-6631

The Square Grouper

This is a toes-in-the-sand kind of place that rewards its revelers with a stunning view of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Sure, you’ll find some decent grub here. But the reasons to visit are all vibe and view, and the sips and sounds that link the two.

The Square Grouper: 1111 Love St., Jupiter; 561-575-0252

U-Tiki

With the tropical vibe, the outstanding view (sits across from the Jupiter Lighthouse) and the great food, U-Tiki Beach provides a wondering dining experience.

U-Tiki Beach: 1095 North A1A, Jupiter; 561-406-2210

Some choice words for diabetes
Some choice words for diabetes

Type 2 diabetes was once known as adult-onset diabetes. But now that term is outdated: Increasingly it is a disease that begins in childhood. Between 2000 and 2009, the rate of Type 2 diabetes in children jumped more than 30 percent — and it is climbing especially fast among children from poor and minority families. The prevalence of the disease...

I finally got my Bundt cake out of its pan. Here's how.

In any compendium of foods that serve a crowd, the Bundt cake is a star. It is pretty, its number of slices can be stretched and it holds for days under cover, all of which makes it ideal for a house full of company or for carrying to a cake-worthy occasion. The Bundt was not always so ubiquitous. In 1966, Pillsbury Bake-Off judges awarded second place...

Have you tried the Whole Foods sandwich that went viral?

Anyone can get their hands on the latest buzzy food craze: You just walk up to the deli at a Whole Foods, tell them you want “that TTLA sandwich” and pay $8 at the cash register.  That is, unless the deli is out of the ingredients, particularly the vegan tempeh “bacon” strips that are stuffed into the sandwich. Between...

How an 80-pound goldendoodle helped build a California wine brand

When Eric Story and Alison Smith-Story started their winery in 2014, they didn't follow any conventional path. An old saw advises that to make a small fortune in the wine industry, you should start with a large one. That was not an option, so they went the modern way. "We didn't have an inheritance, and we hadn't started and sold a software company...

At Chobani, adding flavor to yogurt while watching calories

Porter Z. Long, 25, is a research and development scientist for Chobani at its yogurt factory in Twin Falls, Idaho. Q: What does your job entail? A: I create flavors for yogurt, taking an idea, such as mint chocolate, and developing it into a commercial product. Right now, I’m working on Flip products, which have mix-ins like nuts or seeds to...
