Jereve’s gourmet offerings include vichyssoise, kale salad and braised short-rib ravioli. There’s a burger on the menu, but the offerings are decidedly artsy. Dishes start at $14, and the prix fixe menu costs $30 for three courses. Jereve also serves brunch.
Jereve (the name is taken from the French phrase je reve, or “I dream”) is part of the Emko art space. In addition to the dining room, Emko boasts a juice bar, a liquor bar, an art gallery and a sculpture garden. Jereve calls itself “a culinary studio.”
OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE
The grilled octopus ($21), not an easy dish to prepare, was tender and tasty. Topped with avocado slices, the plate arrived as its own little work of edible art. We also liked the beet salad ($14), which came with blue cheese, crushed walnuts and grilled endives, and the crispy pork belly ($18).
REASON TO GO
A cool vibe, stellar service and unique dishes make Jereve a winner.
Friendly, enthusiastic and professional. One of our two servers offered detailed wine recommendations for each of the dishes we sampled.
Quiet. Music played in the dining room, which was about half-full during our Friday night visit.
Not really. The prices are steep and the art is a bit provocative for a laid-back family outing.
