Reporter’s pick: Top 7 Airbnb rentals in West Palm Beach

Cooler weather and awesome events are just around the corner. And in West Palm Beach, there will be plenty of things to do this fall, such as Dinner en Blanc and the GreenMarket. If you have friends and family in town looking for a staycation — you know, to kick it at the beach under the Florida sun, to drink cocktails in a pool and to party till the break of dawn — you’ll need a spot to sleep it off and recharge.

Here are one local reporter’s top 7 picks for best Airbnb rentals in West Palm. Have a favorite of your own? Drop a comment below.

*Reporter’s Note: These properties were judged on how they’d accommodate a group of at least three guests in addition to the rental’s tropical vibe, proximity to the water and downtown, prior guest reviews and must-have amenities such as AC or direct ocean breeze, TV or water views, swimming pool or ocean access within walking distance and at least one full bathroom.

#7 — No, really. You can book a sailboat for 38 bucks a night. It’s not fancy, luxurious or “resorty,” but it’s definitely an option for someone feeling adventurous. What’s more tropical than staring at the ocean all day?

This is a small room with one double-sized bed. You’ll share the bathroom, living space and the Atlantic ocean views with the owner (AKA your private captain).

#6 — Casa de León is in Flamingo Park, which is a great location. It’s near CityPlace, the beach and downtown. It has lush landscaping and newly renovated interior. There are two bedrooms with one bed in each and a third room with a pull-out sofa bed. The house is nicely put together.

#5 — This is a great house with a private pool, but you’ll need a car to get around. It’s 4.5 miles north of Downtown West Palm Beach in Northwood. The neighborhood has a unique charm. It would appeal to those  looking for artsy vibes, thrift shops and cheap food. Not your typical, glitzy neighborhood. It has a relaxed and creative personality.

#4 — “Nothing is more relaxing than waking from a great night’s sleep and sharing the morning with pelicans and seagulls,” says the host.

Sold! This could be an interesting way of remembering a trip to Florida. However, a certified Captain leave the slip for a chartered cruise (free for guests) down the St Lucie River that leads out to the Atlantic Ocean.

#3 — Think of it as a mini beach resort on a quiet side of town. Casa Coco Garden has a chic hot tub with sheer curtains and outdoor seating around the pool. The vegetation is lush and covers the entire pool. It feels like your own tropical rainforest. This is a very quiet neighborhood, so you’ll want to drive around to find some excitement. Tons of antique shops around.

#2 — Though this option is a bit pricey, you get the main and guest houses. If your party is this big, this option is ideal. It combines both luxury and tropical vibes. It’s elegant, clean, modern and spacious. Plenty of sitting space for wine nights or board games. The house and guest house each have their own full kitchen, washer and dryer.

#1 — The perfect location in charming Grandview Heights, the heated pool in a tropical garden and the resort-style decor makes Conch Shell Cottage my top pick. You don’t need to rent a car while staying here. This beautiful 1920’s old Florida cottage is just minutes walking distance from shopping at CityPlace, and it’s a quick bike ride to the beach, restaurants and downtown.
