The Cha-Cha gyoza (pan-fried pork dumplings) is served at Cha-Cha Japanese Cafe in Royal Palm Beach.

If you blink, you'll miss this place as you drive past the strip plazas of State Road 7 in Royal Palm Beach. But sooner or later -- especially if you crave some lovingly cooked, steaming bowls of Japanese noodles -- you'll find it.

You may have to wait for one of the few tables in this tiny, authentic Japanese café, but the wait is worth it. From pan-seared gyoza to soul-soothing ramen to nabeyaki udon served in a cast iron hot pot, there's plenty to explore on this menu.

Seared Blackened Diver Scallops with basil, andouille sausage and asparagus risotto at DeVine Bistro in Wellington. (Palm Beach Post file)

Chef David Palmateer has turned a suburban plaza storefront space into a popular neighborhood eatery, serving delicious American bistro fare.

From soups and appetizers to salads and sandwiches to hearty entrées that include “3-Hour Guinness Dijon Braised Boneless Short Ribs,” DeVine’s menu is ample and varied. Early birds might want to check out the nightly happy hour (two-for-one drinks served from 5 to 7 p.m.) or the Delight Menu, which offers three courses for less than $19 (nightly from 5 to 6 p.m., dine-in only).
