Fresh, fast fare at Prep Kitchen Grab & Go

MENU

A simple, one-page menu offers a $6 soup of the day, $10 salads, $12 sandwiches and $5 desserts. Top a salad with grilled herb chicken or seared salmon for $4; with sliced avocado for $2. Salads and sandwiches offer great options for vegetarians.

ATMOSPHERE

While “Grab and Go” suggests it’s strictly takeout, that’s not the case. The restaurant is a bright, open, airy space with comfortable seating that invites customers to linger over lunch, and we saw several people doing just that.

OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

How to choose? Each sandwich ($12) was wonderful, with diverse ingredients coming together in delightful perfection. The St. Tropez includes roast turkey, Boursin, sprouts, avocado, tomato and garlic aioli. The Kitchen Club combines roasted chicken, smoked bacon, blue cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. Sandwiches come with a choice of kitchen slaw or Israeli couscous salad. The Aubergine melds roasted peppers, arugula, burrata, fried eggplant and a drizzle of balsamic glaze for a pop of sweetness in between the tasty roll. We finished our feast with heavenly slices of coconut cake ($5), which will bring us back to the restaurant again and again.

REASON TO GO

Grab a fresh, reasonably quick lunch if you’re in a rush. If not, enjoy a great salad or sandwich in a calm, unhurried atmosphere. Don’t forget the coconut cake.

SERVICE

Friendly and welcoming. We ordered our food to go, and our wait was less than 10 minutes.

NOISE LEVEL

Foot traffic from those picking up takeout orders is about the only distraction, and it didn’t seem to bother those dining.

KID FRIENDLY

The limited menu may not appeal to little ones.
