Enjoy Tex-Mex, barbecue at new Burrito Bros. spot

Burrito Bros. has found a new home in Jupiter, in the former Sonny’s on Indiantown Road. The menu has been expanded to include barbecue dishes, including ribs, chicken and beef. But no worries — burritos, tacos, rice bowls and salads are still on the menu.

Surfboards on the wall and lots of blue paint give the renovated restaurant a beachy feel. There’s ample seating at booths and tables. Several flat-screen TVs are on the walls.

I love the rice bowls, so I ordered one with pork carnitas ($7.25) and piled on the toppings: white rice, black beans, grilled onions and peppers, pico de gallo, cilantro, cheese, sour cream and lettuce. I added guacamole for $1.80 more. There was enough food for two, but I managed to put quite a dent in it. Each bite was delicious, but they need to dial down the cilantro a bit. My husband chose the baby back ribs ($17 for a full slab) and found them tender and meaty. The meal came with two sides; he liked the cole slaw but raved about the mac and cheese.

The menu gives great choices, Tex-Mex or barbecue.

We ordered our food to go, and it was quickly made up and packaged. The staff at the counter was friendly and efficient.

Not a factor for us the day we visited, as we were taking our dinners to go. The take-out area is separate from the dining room, so any traffic should not bother diners.

It’s a great place for the family. There’s lots here for the kids to enjoy, especially the mac and cheese.
