Death Or Glory, a downtown Delray Beach watering hole that opened in April in the historic Falcon House, has been named one of the country's "Best New Bars of 2017" by the website Supercall.

The Supercall lineup includes 14 bars from craft cocktail hotspots such as New York City, Chicago and San Francisco. Death Or Glory is the only Florida locale on the list.

Death Or Glory is currently hosting a special holiday-themed pop-up in conjunction with more than 50 other bars across the country. The festive "Miracle" theme includes extensive kitschy decor, a menu of 10 potent cocktails served in special mugs and glassware, and even soap flakes masquerading as snow billowing out onto Northeast Sixth Avenue.

Supercall says Death or Glory "strives to be a neighborhood respite just outside of the tourist (and snowbird)-heavy parts of Delray." The bar and restaurant - a partnership of Ayme Harrison, Isaac Grillo, April DeVona and Annie Blake - "is all about passion for great cocktails and the local community."

Blake previously worked with noted book publisher and barware manufacturer Cocktail Kingdom, whose founder Greg Boehm created the "Miracle on 9th Street" pop-up concept that has spread globally. There's only one other Miracle location in Florida, The Courtesy Bar in Orlando.

Grillo and DeVona bring experience in the South Florida market as co-founders of Repour Bar in Miami. And Harrison, former owner of Kreepy Tiki Lounge in Fort Lauderdale, brings a creative flair to the cocktail menu and a newly opened outdoor tiki bar packed with delicious rum concoctions.

Their secret weapon is chef Jessie Steel, whose decadent dishes pair perfectly with the drinks. The staff also includes some of the area's most talented bartenders, who are having fun with the whimsical lineup of Miracle cocktails such as You’ll Shoot Your Rye Out and Yippie Ki Yay Mother F****r!

Early Christmas cheer: Spiced cranberry sauce, lime and rosemary scent the vodka-laced Christmopolitan.

Get in the spirit of the season at the Miracle pop-up through New Year’s Eve. The special Tiki bar menu returns in 2018, Harrison said.
