Palm Beach County judicial hopefuls get extra time to seek 2 opening

Palm Beach County judicial hopefuls will have until September 21 to prepare their applications because of Hurricane Irma, the local Judicial Nominating Commission said Wednesday.

While applications for two circuit court seats were to be due Monday, the deadline was extended until 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 21.

The commission is seeking applications from attorneys who want to replace circuit judges Richard L. Oftedal and James T. Ferrara. It will send its top picks to Gov. Rick Scott, who will make the final selections.

Applicants must have been members of the Florida Bar for five years, residents of Palm Beach County and registered voters. Applications can be downloaded at: www.floridabar.org/directories/jnc/applications.
