Royal Palm Beach-based Carls Patio sold to Rooms To Go affiliate


Royal Palm Beach-based Carls Patio has been sold to an affiliate of the furniture store Rooms To Go.

The terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The outdoor furniture store, which was founded in 1992, has 12 locations in Florida, including an outlet store in Ft. Myers. Carls has two Palm Beach County locations, one in Downtown at The Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens and one on Federal Highway in Boca Raton.

Carls was acquired by Cleveland, Ohio-based Weinberg Capital Group in March 2013.

“I would like to thank all of our valued employees at Carls for the hard work over the past five years,” said Ronald E. Weinberg, Sr., director and principal of the private equity group. “We’ve seen many successes as well as some challenges and we will fondly remember our time as owners.”

Paul Otowchits, the former president of Carls, has accepted a senior leadership position with Rooms To Go, where he will continue to focus on the outdoor furniture segment, the private equity group said. All other employees of Carls have also been offered employment by Rooms To Go.

Rooms To Go is based in Seffner, Florida.
