People hired, promoted by Palm Beach County business, non-profits


Modern Luxury has named Jamie Altschul as named publisher of Modern Luxury Palm Beach. She will oversee the magazine’s launch, and the publication’s business functions on print and digital platforms. Prior to Modern Luxury, Altschul was launch publisher for Wall Street Magazine and Conde Nast Media Group’s executive director. She has also held positions at Vanity Fair and Town and Country. Most recently, Altschul worked as executive director for GQ and The New Yorker.

Modern Luxury has also named Jayne Chase as editor-in-chief. She will oversee and shape the publication’s editorial and creative content. Chase began her career at Conde Nast’s Glamour and Vanity Fair magazines and then moved to serve as international editor at Harper’s Bazaar for Hearst Publications. Chase’s other experiences include working as communications director of J. Crew and co-hosting the Martha Stewart Morning Living Radio Show on Sirius. She volunteers for United Way of Palm Beach County.


Young Singers of the Palm Beaches has announced a new board of directors for the 2017-18 season. Bert Winkler has been selected board president. He is a criminal justice analyst for the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission. He has been practicing law in the county for 35 years.

Dave Frankland has been named vice president. He is chief strategy officer at Selligent. He also owns a boutique wine and craft beer store, Vinoutlet, in Palm Beach.

Other board members are Victoria McCullough, Ken Dwyer, Sue Llende, Larry Bernstein, Karmin Cassanelli, Tasha Dickinson, Danielle Igoe, Gary Lesser, Timothy McAlice and Hank Gonzalez.

Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority has appointed two board members. Mavis Benson is owner of Avalon Gallery in Delray Beach. She is chair of the Downtown Merchant & Business Association.

John Conde is owner of The Conde Center for Chiropractic Neurology. He is a board certified chiropractic neurologist and a diplomat of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. He is a chairman’s club member of the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce.


Patrick Meeds has been named senior surveyor at Stantec’s West Palm Beach office. He has over 40 years of experience in surveying on transportation, energy, environmental, and hydrographic projects throughout the state. He has worked with the South Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Department of Environmental Protection Agency, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservancy, local municipalities, ports and marinas. Meeds is a registered professional surveyor and mapper in Florida and a registered professional traffic operations engineer. He is past director of the Palm Beach Chapter of the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society.


Palm Beach Gardens-based Prestige Health Choice has appointed Sandra Schwemmer as chief medical officer. She will oversee the company’s Medicaid managed care plan’s clinical activities. Schwemmer is certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Osteopathic Emergency Medicine. Gov. Rick Scott appointed her in 2015 to the Board of Osteopathic Medicine for the state’s Department of Health. Schwemmer has served on the national board of directors of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, the Board of Directors of Florida Medical Quality Assurance Inc. and the Board of Governors of the Health Professions Division at Nova Southeastern University. Schwemmer previously served as medical director for the Palm Beach County Trauma Agency.


Century Risk Advisors has hired Zach Keane as insurance advisor. He offers risk management solutions and comprehensive insurance products tailored to the specific needs of his business clients. He holds the designations of certified insurance service representative and accredited advisor in insurance. Keane also assists business clients in evaluating risks and developing loss control procedures to mitigate risks. He has a background in quality control and business insurance requirements. Previously, Keane was a commercial insurance advisor with Brown and Brown. He received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Florida State University. Century Risk Advisors is located in Boca Raton.


Christopher W. Rumbold has been selected chair of the nomenclature committee and general magistrate & hearing officer committee for the Florida Bar. He is a member of the legislation committee, membership committee and publications committee. Rumbold is a certified marital and family law attorney at the Law Office of Christopher W. Rumbold.


Shawn McAskill has joined Keenability as chief marketing officer. He will oversee the implementation and success of the company’s marketing efforts. He has a background in analytics. Keenability is located in Boca Raton.


Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County has been awarded nonprofit of the year by Nonprofits First. The organization was recognized for its excellence in delivering Habitat’s mission and for operating a budget of more than $2.5 million. The organization’s programs serve Palm Beach County.

Brightline has earned the Eagle Award by the Associated Builders and Contractors Florida East Coast Chapter. The passenger rail system has stations in Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and other South Florida locations.

Lumitec has been awarded an Innovation Award by the International Boatbuilders Exhibition and Conference. The company was recognized for its power line instruction technology. The technology is used to communicate protocols to the company’s luminaries. Lumitec is headquartered in Delray Beach.
